PIC VOLUNTEERING-
When you enter the cemetery, the first building on the right is the Public Information Center (PIC). That is where funeral processions form up before moving on signal to committal shelters. That is also where the many visitors stop and get their first impression of the cemetery. The PIC is staffed and operated by volunteers. Persons on duty there usually greet visitors and may provide assistance to Funeral Directors. Therefore, volunteers serve as ambassadors of good will to the public.
Volunteer shifts of duty can be mornings (8-12), afternoons (12-4) or all day any day of the week including weekends. Hours can be tailored to accommodate individual availability.
Volunteer duty is performed as an adjunct to the Dallas VA Medical Center. Service is without compensation and may begin when an application has been received, approved and orientation completed.
